Theda Myer | School Secretary, Laredo Elementary School
Theda Myer, a school secretary at Laredo, exemplifies the APS core value of Support, Respect, and Appreciation through her steady leadership and deep care for the school community. Nominated by Principal Haleh Torbaghan, Theda has gone above and beyond this year by seamlessly covering both secretary and clerk responsibilities during a vacancy, including independently managing the school’s Infinite Campus roster and successfully completing October Count. Her work behind the scenes keeps daily operations running smoothly, from supporting teachers and substitutes to ensuring families stay informed and welcomed. Known for her warmth, resourcefulness, and attention to detail, Theda is the heart of her school, making a meaningful difference for staff, students, and families every single day.
Tasha Hall | School Support Professional, Tollgate Elementary School
Tasha Hall, a school support professional at Tollgate Elementary, exemplifies the APS core values of Support, Respect, and Appreciation through her tireless commitment to students, staff, and families. Nominated by Dan Whalen-Valeriano, Tasha consistently identifies areas of need and takes initiative to ensure solutions are in place. Whether stepping in as a long-term substitute, taking on new responsibilities in school technology management and instruction, leading the paraprofessional team, or creating high-quality displays and student awards. Tasha goes above and beyond in every role she assumes. She does all of this with an infectiously positive attitude that energizes and uplifts the entire school community. Her flexibility, leadership, and unwavering dedication make her an essential part of Tollgate Elementary and a deserving recipient of the Powering Potential Award.
Kevin Morales | Math Teacher, Gateway High School
Kevin Morales, a math teacher at Gateway High School, exemplifies the APS core values of Engagement and Academic Supports and Relationships with Strong Communication through his extraordinary impact on students in a short period of time. Nominated by Principal Dr. Scott Fiske, Kevin is a former Gateway student who returned to his alma mater to educate and inspire the next generation. He began his APS career just over a year ago as a campus monitor, quickly earning recognition for his ability to build strong relationships while holding students to high expectations. In January 2025, he stepped into a math teaching role, and his natural talent for engaging students has been nothing short of remarkable. Whether leading rich discussions around mathematical theory or helping students maximize tools like DESMOS, Kevin consistently turns curiosity into meaningful learning. As a first-year teacher, he demonstrates skills that often take years to develop, and his students see themselves reflected in him, as both a role model and a living example of possibility. Kevin’s journey from APS student to APS educator is a powerful success story, and his humility, drive, and commitment to giving back continue to ignite opportunity for Gateway students every day.
