Students at Park Lane Elementary School got quite the surprise to end their week recently, as a large group of volunteers helped build a new playground for the school.
The Denver Broncos Foundation, who sponsored the project, teamed up with APS and national nonprofit KABOOM! to help give Park Lane students and their community an updated play area to enjoy. It replaced the 30-year old playground that once stood in its place and will now give students a modernized space and serve community members who enjoy visiting the adjacent Park Lane Park.
KABOOM! representatives kicked off the day by welcoming a host of volunteers, including some Broncos players and Park Lane families who couldn’t wait to get started on the playground construction. The weather also did everyone a favor and the build was completed in just six hours. A ribbon cutting ceremony helped put a bow on the overall experience and volunteers walked away with a sense of pride and excitement for everyone who will be able to enjoy the Bronco-themed playground.
