Focused on Safety: America's Safe Schools & Bus Safety Week
Posted on 10/21/2024

We are proud to recognize America’s Safe Schools Week and National School Bus Safety Week, observed from Oct. 21–25. These observances are a time to highlight the importance of creating safe, secure and welcoming environments for our students, both inside and outside of the classroom.

America’s Safe Schools Week reminds us that safety is a shared responsibility. We are committed to maintaining secure school environments where every student can grow and thrive. Our robust safety protocols, mental health supports and proactive measures ensure our schools remain places of learning and growth. We encourage families to continue having open conversations with their students about the importance of staying vigilant and reporting any safety concerns to school staff.

National School Bus Safety Week focuses on the safety of students during their transportation to and from school. School buses are one of the safest modes of transportation for students, but we all play a role in maintaining that safety. In that spirit, it is important for all of us to follow proper safety guidelines, whether as students, drivers or pedestrians. We encourage families to review bus safety rules with their children and to remind them of the importance of staying seated, listening to the bus driver and following all safety protocols.

Thank you to our bus drivers, school staff, students and families for their commitment to maintaining safe schools and safe transportation. Together, we can continue to create a secure and supportive environment for every student in Aurora Public Schools.
