It started with 11 million spellers. Late into the evening at the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee finals, it came down to two: Harini Logan of San Antonio, Texas, and Aurora's own Vikram Raju. In a historic spell-off, the Aurora Quest K-8 seventh-grader captured second place.
Raju adds a runner-up finish to his impressive spelling bee resume after tying for 51st at the prestigious national event in 2019 and 21st in 2021. With one year of eligibility remaining, he plans to return next year in hopes of hoisting the championship trophy. Inspired by his dedication, the entire APS community is ready to root for him next year!
Raju is being recognized widely for his success! Be sure to keep an eye out for future coverage. He is also highlighted in this Washington Post article. Check it out!
