The Pickens Technical College Urban Horticulture & Landscape Management program's newly-remodeled building opened just in time for the spring! To celebrate the beautiful upgrade, Pickens hosted an open house to not only showcase the building and all of its new gadgets and tools, but to also bring in potential future employers for their students.
Students were invited to walk around and talk to various people from different companies to learn about potential careers available to them after completing the program. During the event, many students expressed what they love most about the new building and ways in which it the upgrade has already enhanced their learning.

"We now have our own space," said Pickens Horticulture student Alex Rodriguez. "It is very intimate and nice compared to the small classroom we were in before."
The open house also offered a great opportunity for Pickens to promote the program to anyone considering a career in horticulture or landscaping. The program is a year-long course that covers how to landscape, operate greenhouses and manage a horticultural business by using propagation, hydroponics, and plant identification skills.
The open house was managed by Samantha O'Neill, Pickens' Career Placement and Coordinator, who was very excited about all the new possibilities the remodel will bring.
