A kaleidoscope of vibrant colors, close-knit families, deep cultural pride, a beautiful language and mouth-watering meals are just a few of the many amazing traits that come to mind as we mark the start of
National Hispanic Heritage Month.
In Aurora Public Schools, we are proud to have Hispanic culture so tightly woven into the fabric of who we are. To honor our Hispanic students, families, staff and community members, join us in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs Sept. 15 through Oct. 15.
From salsa to merengue, bachata and more, let’s dance our way through this meaningful observation with the intent to uplift Hispanic culture in our hearts. This is a time to pay homage to the countless contributions and achievements of Hispanic trailblazers, amplify their voices and learn more about the Hispanic culture’s rich art, music, literature and innovations that have shaped our society - and world.
We encourage our teachers to infuse their lesson plans with the many accomplishments of Hispanic individuals across different fields. It is critical for our students to see themselves in the stories of those who’ve overcome barriers and achieved greatness.
