The Colorado Nurse Practice Act allows a nurse to administer or delegate over-the-counter (OTC) medications to school staff. Aurora Public Schools policy JLCD - Administering Medicines to Students allows for standing order medications and collaborates with Every Child Pediatrics to review them annually. Students can only be given a standing order medication one time per school day and no more than 2 times per week. The document below is publicly available. Please note that this is not the physician-signed version. The physician-signed copy of the 2024-2025 Standing Orders is available to School Nurses and the APS Health Leadership team and can be found in a separate location.
