Destination2Teach
Where Passion Meets Profession
In 2023, Colorado Senate Bill 23-087 was signed into law with the intent of increasing the number of teachers in classrooms by creating a Teacher Degree Apprenticeship Program (TDAP), known in Aurora Public Schools as Destination2Teach. Destination2Teach is for first-time teacher licensure only and requires candidates to:
- Pursue a bachelor’s degree in education. To be eligible for Destination2Teach, individuals cannot hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- Receive structured on-the-job training alongside a mentor teacher.
- Be employed by a school district.
Destination2Teach is an apprenticeship program designed to align to the competencies of the Colorado Teacher Quality Standards. To ensure compliance and recognition, programs must be registered with the State Apprenticeship Agency and approved by the Colorado Department of Education and the State Board of Education.
