The Food Clinic model was adopted in partnership with Children's Hospital Colorado. Designed to function as a food pantry with an emphasis on choice, culturally relevant foods, and fresh, locally sourced goods, the Food Clinic supports the belief that improved nutrition directly contributes to better academic performance.
Currently, one Food Clinic operates at Crawford Elementary School and is open to all APS families and students. To access the clinic, families can connect with their school’s Family Liaison to schedule an appointment or reach out directly to Jada Ruiz Castro at [email protected].
During the 24-25 School Year the Food Clinic served 25 APS schools, 335 families, and 2,885 individuals.
This model offers a dignified, community-rooted approach to addressing food insecurity within our school district.
