District Student Leadership Council (DSLC) is a peer advisory board of juniors and seniors that gives input on current APS initiatives and brings school-level issues and problem solving skills to our team. In partnership with Superintendent Michael Giles, Jr. , students engage in Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) to elevate student voice, bring awareness to issues affecting all APS students, and provide recommendations for change to address these issues and to talk about their experiences.
Mission:
To empower and equip the students of our district with the knowledge and skills of Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR), fostering a culture where youth voices drive positive change. By engaging in meaningful research activities, we aim to cultivate student leaders who are confident, informed, and inspired to create a more inclusive and equitable school community.
Vision:
We envision a dynamic school district where every student feels valued, heard, and capable of initiating impactful change. Through the power of youth-led research, we strive to build a collaborative environment that promotes social justice, enhances educational experiences, and prepares students to be proactive leaders of tomorrow.
