Is Child Find right for your child?

Your child may benefit from Child Find if you’re noticing that they have difficulties in:

Understanding directions, ability to use words, clarity of speech.

Early Development

Learning and play skills, attention, memory, problem solving, concepts.

Movement & Motor

Use of hands, movement on playground or in the community.

Behavior

Aggression, frequent tantrums, or acting withdrawn.

In Aurora Public Schools, we believe every child can reach their full potential with the right support! In just three simple steps, we work with you to ensure your child’s success.

We encourage you to trust your instincts even when it comes to the smallest concerns about your child’s development. Tell us what you’re noticing! We listen with 0% judgement and 100% heart.

First, let us know if your child already has an Individualized Education Program (IEP). If so, please send a copy to APS Child Find Secretary Chrystal Rosin at [email protected].

Next, fill out the proper form:

Need help with the form? For assistance in another language or any questions, call 303-326-3631.

Congratulations! You’ve completed the hardest part. Now, we will review your form and contact you to schedule a time to connect with your child through a screening that involves play, conversation, and engaging activities.

After meeting your child, we will share what we observed and answer any questions you may have. Together, your family and our team will decide if your child needs further evaluation.

In the evaluation, providers (who specialize in areas of concern for your child) work with you to determine if your child has an educational disability and therefore needs an Individualized Education Program (IEP).

That’s it! Let the support begin and be proud of yourself for getting your child the care they deserve. We can’t wait to see them blossom throughout their educational journey.
