Student Bill of Rights
The bill of rights ensures that justice-engaged students have access to the education and support they need to succeed. These rights include, but are not limited to:
Providing alternative solutions to a general education, when appropriate.
Prompt enrollment or re-enrollment no later than 10 business days after the first request, provided the student is eligible.
Appropriate credit for coursework completed while justice-engaged, applied toward graduation or continuation.
Providing a graduation plan, developed in consultation with the student, their family, caregiver, or advocate.
Privacy, including privacy when related to diversion, probation, or questioning about a crime.
Protection by federal acts including IDEA, Section 504, foster care regulations, and the McKinney-Vento Act.
Creating evidence of and being evaluated for giftedness.
Participation in school activities, sports, or career readiness pathways in accordance with state board rules.
