Proposed 2024 Bond Featured Projects

Steel beam groundbreaking ceremonyCareer & Technical Education (CTE) Opportunities at Existing High Schools: It is important that our students graduate prepared for college and/or career success. Voter support of the 2024 Bond Program would allow us to expand CTE opportunities at each of our existing high schools. Students would have access to more real-world experiences, which would prepare them for high-demand careers and ensure they have the competitive edge needed in today’s workforce.

Student Learning & Support Spaces: We recognize the critical need for updated student learning and support spaces in our older school buildings. Voter support of the 2024 Bond Program would enable us to provide flexible, innovative learning spaces that support both students and staff in our older elementary and P-8 school buildings. When students feel supported and have access to quality learning environments, they are more likely to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

New Health Science High School:
Voter support of the 2024 Bond Program would enable us to build a state-of-the-art facility in Northwest Aurora where APS students would have the opportunity to attend a new health science high school. All students would graduate with a high school diploma AND earn an industry-recognized associate’s degree with relevant workplace experience. In a world where health science professions are becoming increasingly vital, this major investment would prepare hundreds of students each year for high-skill jobs of the future.

New Laredo Elementary School Building: Laredo Elementary School was originally built in the 1960s and is in need of significant improvements and repairs. Voter support of the 2024 Bond Program would allow us to replace the existing school building with a brand new building. The new school building would come equipped with the latest systems, technology and infrastructure to support Laredo students in powering their potential.

Gateway High School Major Renovation: Gateway High School was originally built in the 1970s and is in need of significant improvements and repairs. Voter support of the 2024 Bond Program would allow Gateway to undergo major renovations that includes modernized classrooms, enhanced technology infrastructure, updated safety and security features, and more flexible learning and support spaces. This would help ensure Gateway students and staff have access to modern and equitable learning environments.

Pickens Technical College Major Renovation: Pickens Technical College provides APS students with real-world learning experiences to meet the challenges of the future. Voter support of the 2024 Bond Program would provide the necessary funds to conduct major renovations to the buildings that make up the Pickens campus. This would allow Pickens to more adequately meet the needs of students pursuing high-wage, high-skill and high-demand careers.

Aurora West College Preparatory Academy 10-Classroom Addition: Voter support of the 2024 Bond Program would enable us to build a 10-classroom addition to Aurora West College Preparatory Academy. This project is essential for addressing current capacity issues and enhancing learning environments for students and staff. By expanding the school with permanent classrooms, we would eliminate the need for modular buildings, providing a more stable and conducive learning environment.

New High School: As Aurora continues to grow, more families are moving into areas that lack neighborhood school options. Voter support of the 2024 Bond Program would enable us to build a new comprehensive high school in East Aurora. This new high school would serve the growing communities along the E-470 corridor. With Vista PEAK Preparatory nearing capacity, this would also help alleviate overcrowding and ensure all students and families have access to quality education close to home. Exact location to be determined.

New P-8s #1 & #2: More families are moving into areas of Aurora that do not have access to schools close to home. Voter support of the 2024 Bond Program would enable us to build two new P-8 schools to meet the growing needs of students and families living in up-and-coming housing developments along the E-470 corridor. Exact locations to be determined.
