Districtwide Bell Schedule Alignment (2026-27)
For the 2026-27 school year, APS has implemented a districtwide bell schedule alignment as part of our commitment to student success and the priorities of our Destination APS Strategic Plan.
These changes will increase learning time for our elementary students, better align school schedules across the district, provide healthier sleep schedules for students and support improved access to college and career learning for our high school students. This decision follows a year-long process that included feedback from students, families, staff and school leaders, along with a review of best practices and operational needs.
Important Note about Preschool
The Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) recently adopted new statewide requirements that increase the minimum number of instructional hours for preschool programs. To meet these requirements, APS has added nine instructional Fridays to the preschool calendar for both full-day and half-day preschool programs. Preschool students will need to attend school on the following Fridays:
- Sept. 11, 2026
- Oct. 2, 2026
- Nov. 6, 2026
- Dec. 4, 2026
- Jan. 8, 2027
- Feb. 12, 2027
- March 5, 2027
- April 2, 2027
- May 14, 2027
