Kaiser Highlights APS Medicaid Team on National Level for Inspiring Work with Families
In Aurora Public Schools, we believe students can’t learn if they are not safe and healthy. We also know that navigating the intricacies of getting and keeping health insurance for children isn't easy. That's why our Medicaid Services team works tirelessly to be a guiding light for families in need of help.
In fact, this team has gone so far beyond the call of duty that they’ve proven to be top-tier by national standards. Kaiser Permanente recently published a case study that features our Medicaid team's dedication and success. The study highlights the team's communication about Medicaid and CHP+ enrollment as a standard of excellence for districts across the county.
In the case study, available at k-p.li/3SGVfM1, Kaiser examines the APS Medicaid team’s:
- Seven team members who are certified to enroll families in Health First Colorado
- Partnership with the county health department to streamline the application process
- Family liaisons who build trust and strong relationships with families
- Long-standing participation in the state’s school Medicaid program
- Strategic communications that ensure schools and families are well informed
- Stance as a state-certified enrollment center site that immediately processes applications for emergency health coverage
Lessons learned from the study include leveraging existing communication channels, collaborating with school staff, encouraging staff to get certified, building formal agreements with family-serving agencies and more.
The APS Medicaid team maintains a genuine desire to provide a master level of expertise, advocacy, empathy and impact every year. To access their services, call 303-326-1485 or email [email protected].
