Interested in Serving APS as a Board of Education Director?
The Board of Education of the Joint School District No. 28J of the Counties of Adams and Arapahoe Colorado, aka Aurora Public Schools, calls for nominations of candidates for Board Directors to be placed on the ballot for the regular biennial school election to be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
At this election, four directors will be elected at-large to the seven-member board, each to serve a four-year term. To be qualified, a candidate must have been a registered voter and a resident of the Aurora Public Schools District for at least 12 consecutive months before the election. A person is ineligible to run for Board Director who has been convicted of committing a sexual offense against a child.
A person who desires to be a candidate for Board Director must file a written notice of intention to be a candidate and a nomination petition in accordance with law. These documents will be included in the candidate packets, which will be available beginning August 6, 2025.
Potential candidates may obtain candidate packets at the Office of Legal Counsel, 15701 E. 1 st Ave., Suite 200, Aurora, CO 80011 (303-326-1800). Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Nomination petitions must be signed by at least 50 residents of the Aurora Public Schools district who are registered to vote. Completed petitions must be submitted no later than 3:00 p.m. on August 29, 2025.
