Aurora Public Schools Transportation offers a Transportation Opt-In Program for students who are not automatically eligible for district-provided transportation.
The Opt-In program allows eligible walk-zone students to request a seat on an existing bus route when space permits. Assignments are based on available seating, route capacity, and operational needs.
Important Note
Seating is not guaranteed and may be withdrawn during the school year if seats are needed for students who qualify for transportation under district eligibility guidelines.
Application Timeline: Applications for the program are accepted from July 1 through April 30 of the current school year.
Review Process: Applications will begin being reviewed and processed starting October 1.
Before You Apply
Step 1: Verify Transportation Eligibility
Before submitting an Opt-In request, please check whether your student already qualifies for transportation. You can verify your student's transportation eligibility by:
- Logging into Infinite Campus and selecting the Transportation tab.
- Reviewing your student's assigned transportation information.
If your student is already eligible for transportation, they may begin riding their assigned bus using their school-issued student ID.
Step 2: Submit a Transportation Opt-In Request
If your student is not eligible for transportation, you may submit an Opt-In Request. Once your application is received:
- APS Transportation will review available seating on existing routes.
- You will be notified by email once your request has been reviewed.
- If approved, you will receive your student's bus stop location, route number, and pickup/drop-off times.
Please note that approval is based solely on available seating and transportation needs. Transportation Opt-In assignments may be modified or discontinued if routes reach capacity or operational needs change.
