Aurora Public Schools was proud to host a reception on Dec. 2 to welcome incoming and returning APS Board of Education directors, followed by the official swearing-in ceremony during the Board’s work session. The evening celebrated both our newest leaders and the outgoing directors whose dedicated service has helped shape brighter futures for APS students.
APS welcomed returning board directors Dr. Anne Keke and Tramaine Duncan along with two newly elected directors, Kristin Mallory-Westerberg and Gayla Charrier. They join continuing board directors Danielle Tomwing, Vicki Reinhard and Tiffany Tasker as the full seven-member Board continues its work on behalf of the APS community.
Aurora Public Schools extends heartfelt gratitude to outgoing board directors Dr. Debra E. Gerkin and Michael Carter, who have served APS since 2017 and 2021, respectively, and have been strong champions for students, families and staff. We thank them both for their leadership and commitment to APS.
During the work session, the Board also selected its new officers. This includes:
- Tramaine Duncan - President
- Danielle Tomwing - Vice President
- Gayla Charrier - Secretary
- Vicki Reinhard - Treasurer
As a reminder, APS Board of Education directors are elected at-large by the community and serve four-year terms. The Board provides leadership and establishes policies that guide the work of the district. Meetings are generally held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m. and are open to the public.
