Benefits and Compensation

Below is information is a high overview of benefits and compensation for new employees joining Aurora Public Schools.  For further questions please contact the benefits and/or compensation specialist that supports your site.

Benefits

As a new hire you have 14 days, from you start date (your first day on the job) to make your benefit elections.  Once your new hire window closes elections may not be changed until the next open enrollment period or if an eligible qualifying event occurs. Helpful Hint:  when you enroll it is helpful to have full names, dates of birth and social security numbers of all eligible family members.

Compensation

Pay Dates and Deadlines

Employees are paid once a month on the last working day of the month.  For the purposes of absences and timecards payroll cutoff is the Saturday before the 15th of the month or the 15th of the month if it falls on a Saturday.  In order for additional hours or leave to be processed for any given month it should be entered prior to the 15th.  Late submissions will be paid the following month.  View the payroll calendar to see pay dates and cut off dates.

Accrual Pay

Most employees—excluding year-round and non-contracted employees—are paid through an accrual plan. This plan allows employees who do not work year-round to continue receiving pay during the summer months. A portion of each monthly paycheck is set aside throughout the year to provide income during that period.

Paid Leave

Employees have the following leave time

  • Sick/Paid Health Leave

  • Personal Leave

  • Bereavement Leave

  • Vacation Leave- for employees working year round
